I'm selling my kayak to a man today for $250 (he might negotiate, he's coming from an hour and a half away). I bought this kayak in October for $75. If I get $250 I'm profiting 333%.
I bought my car for $400 and it's a $3000 car on a nice day. When I sell her I will make a 750% profit.

I bought my motorcycle for 2700 with an extra set of fairings with 700 bucks. Bike is worth 3500 easily.

Do infinite profits count? I've picked up my fair share of worn out furniture (tables, dressers, etc), done some touch up work, and sold em for cheap. Didn't make much money (stuff sold for like $20), but I technically spent nothing!

I haven't really sold much on Cl. I do bring a crowbar whenever I plan on buying something off somebody though.

Lost $100 in a scam for a broken RC car, gained $200 for the Mustang ($600 to $800) even though I killed the starter.

Ya I find the negotiation goes a lot smoother while you are armed.

Indeed. Just bring it out, place it on the hood of your car/waistband.
Really though, if I end up in the sketchy part of town. I'll come prepared for anything.

You always need one strapped to the ankle man, trust me, I've lost count of how many times that thing has saved my life.

I don't know that you can call it 'profit' per se, but I found my partner through Craigslist and we've been together over six years now.

I carry my machetes with me. Nothing says "Don't fuck with me" like strapping two machetes to your back before a Craigslist deal.

I will occasionally bring my battle axe, but thats only if I'm getting something really important, like a sandwich. Otherwise I find that a katana strapped to the waist is ideal, just incase you run into some ninjas.

You've had to spend money on them, so it's a loss.
But buying a race car is a loss but you get a race car in the end. Same concept.

Yeah, I've got my nunchucks and throwing stars on hand if they become necessary.

I was a tech at a lexus dealership at the time. One of our salesman came over and said some dude used his 95 M3 (black with 110k and a 5 speed) as a down payment. Of course, the dealer only gave him $1500 for It. Before the dealer put any money into it (send to auction) i told them i'd buy it off the lot. So i did. After TT&L it was like $1895. I gave them cash, gave it a good detail wash, clay, and wax then put it up on my lift for inspection. It needed front brakes, fluids, filters and rear sway bushings. I ended up buying all the regular things at an O'Reilly auto parts and also an AFE stage 2 intake, full urithane bushings front and back, and Remus exhaust system. I then moved to Houston to work for Volvo. I needed some money after the move and sold it on CL to a dude from Colorodo. He flew down and drove it back to Colorado no problem.

Drove it to 224,000 with 0 issue and sold for $3200

he is coming from an hour away. He doesn't want to go home empty handed. Don't be afraid to be firm about the price.

He actually canceled. Then another guy did.
